1943- The Nazis burned Ghettos and killed more than 60,000 Jewish people.On August 2, 700 Jews torched parts of the Treblinka death camp. Most of them were killed and only a dozen survived.
1944- The sonderkommando ( prisioners forced to handle the bodies of gas chamber victims) destroyed a cremonia at Auschwitzs. The soborteus were captured and killed.

Assignment 6, Chapter 4 Questions
Chapter 4
1.What were the objectives of the medical examinations? To take out any gold teeth, or something with value.
2.Why were the Jewish musicians not allowed to play Beethoven? Because Beethoven music was German.
3.Describe one if Idek's bouts of madness. If he was mad he would beat up the person next to him.
4.How did Elie initially avoid losing his gold crown? He told the dentist that he was not feeling good. That he was sick and that he was going to come next week.
5.Who did Elie meet on the Paris metro. The French woman that worked with him in the electrical parts warehouse.
6.What happened to Ellie when he refused to give his crown to Franek? What was the end result?Franek new Ellie's weak spot and tormented his father. Franek and some dentist pulled his crown with the help of a rusty spoon.

Assignment 4 Chapter 3 ans 2 questions
Chapter 3
- Because a man (SS officer) told him to say that.
- The babies burned
- He meant that he was never going to forget the flames, where he lost his faith.
- He said "My soul had been invaded and eaten by the flames". He also changed from a kid from school to a prisioner in a strange place.
- First impression: Better than Birkenau. Cement buildings with two stories rather than wooden barracks. Little gardens here and there.
- They would shower with gasoline and water.

- He was humane.
- In the mornings: black cofee. At midday: soup. At six o' clock in the afternoon: bread with margarine.

Chapter 2
- It means that they new what was going to happen to them but they didnt want to admit the truth. The train stopped in Kaschau, a small town on the Czechoslovakian border.
- It was a vision where she could see the future.
- Some young men forced her to sit down, then bent and gagged her.
- The train had stopped in Birkenau.

Assignment #3

- He was a Handyman, and he was a very poor man, a man of all work.
- He didnt know why. He just felt like it.
- About how they killed the kids ajnd two people(foreigh Jews).
- They thought the old man was crazy, that they wanted to pity him.
- They had to wear a yellow star. They werent allowed to have anything that had value. The had a curfew; past six. Soldiers could go in their houses. Arrested all leaders of the Jewish community. They were put in the ghettos.
- A ghetto is a place where Jews were forced to live. Ghettos were places of terrible poverty and during periods of population growth, ghettos had narrow streets and tall, crowded houses.
- They didnt want to believe the truth.
- There were 80 persons in each car. They had some bread, a few pails of water. They checked the bars on the windows to make sure they would not come loose. The cars were sealed. One person was in charged of every car: if someone managed to escape, that person would be shot.

Assingment #2
- Posner was a lawyer that had claustrosphobia, and he got stuck in an elevator. He was in the elevador and he starded remembering about the Nazi; he thought he was in World War two. He started to imagine things. The guard started talking to him but he didnt understand what Posner said, he was trying to calm him down. Finally a man came and open the elevator doors.
- Because they are part of the Jewish community(religion) and they will always remember what happened. Also because I think they got traumatized even though they weren't there. The author is trying to tell us that Jewish people will always remember what the Nazi and Hitler did to the Jews. Also I think he is trying to tell us that they not only hurt the Jewish people that were living in that time, but they also hurted all the Jewish generations.
